Halloween & Village Event Updates

As it seems with the whole world, the Port Barrington REC Committee has had to play things by ear with regard to events–adjusting to ever-changing rules to keep COVID-19 numbers from spiking and committing to community safety. Our beloved Garden Party had to take a year off, but “It’s Our Fox River Day” provided incentive to be outside, social distance and enjoy some views from a kayak while cleaning trash from the channels. Thank you to all our participants and the Broken Oar, Hermann’s Rest-a-While & No Wake Bar & Grill for helping out!!!!

There will not be Village Halloween Party this year, but a costume contest will be held virtually–send a picture of your Trick-or-Treater to the Village Hall by November 2nd to enter. (villagehall@portbarrington.net) Prizes will be awarded!  Trick-or-Treating will take place ON Halloween, Saturday, October 31st, from 1-4PM according to guidelines set forth. The REC Committee will stage a fun photo op in front of the Village Hall Garage–check it out on Halloween Day! See Village Autumn Newsletter 2020 AUTUMN NEWSLETTER with details and ideas for minimal contact trick-or-treating. Check the here for current updates as the time gets closer. Of course, you must decide what is best for you and your family.

Adopt-a-Highway for Roberts Road will be held on Saturday, November 7th. Meet at the Village Hall at 9AM for coffee & donuts before we head out to clean up trash.

Our Chili Cook-off will have to be nixed, but we are hopeful to have it come back HOT next year! And there will be a Santa Parade on Sunday, December 20th! We will also have a Santa photo op open in the Community Room for families to capture holiday smiles. Hang in there! Enjoy the little things! And during these stressful times, let us make and extra special effort to be kind to each other.
